Meet Lauren

I’ve always felt drawn to helping others. Ever since I was a little girl, whenever someone would ask me what I wanted to be when I grew up, I would always tell them I wanted to be a mom and I wanted to help people. It seems there has always been an endless spring of love and compassion within me and I feel an innate desire to share that energy with others.

When I was 19, and an “undeclared” sophomore in college, I felt compelled to switch paths and pursue a degree in massage therapy, but continued on my college path, receiving two bachelor degrees: one in sociology, and the other in communication. I was drawn to massage at that time because massage had always been an expression of caring that resonated with me. I remember the first time I received a massage, at age 12, in my hometown in the South Bay of Los Angeles, at a therapists home practice, located across the street from the ocean. I remember feeling so deeply cared for, nurtured, and relaxed, as I received this therapeutic work, while listening to the crashing ocean waves.

Like many life paths, I found myself living a life with many unexpected twists and turns, and exploring many practices that brought me to where I am today. I became deeply connected to a nature based martial arts, in 2000, and later earned my first degree black belt, after over 6 years of intense, disciplined training. I carry this training with me and have been practicing qigong for the last 20 years. This practice is what first “opened my hands” to the innate self-healing energy that is available to us if we take the time to cultivate it.

In 2004 I started a 12 year career, working in multiple roles in healthcare administration, and while I loved my time and experiences in that field, the time finally came when I couldn’t deny the calling I had felt so many years earlier. I was ready to actively begin my healing work and went to massage therapy school in 2015.

The impact massage has had on my life can’t be fully expressed with words. My own self-healing and awakening has been beyond what I could have imagined in this lifetime. Massage has led me to other modalities and opened me up to feeling and realizing the gifts I innately possess. After several years focusing solely on therapeutic table massage and Thai massage therapy, I have expanded my offerings to include shamanic energy healing and therapeutic movement. I’ve learned over the years, through working with clients, and navigating my own healing process, that we cannot simply focus on one aspect of ourselves. We must take into consideration the balance and harmony between our mind, body, and spirit. We must devote time, each day, to caring for each part, in order to live a life of health and vitality and one where we fully embody our truth.

I feel incredibly blessed to have found this path in life. It’s hard for me to call it work, because it’s so much more than that. It’s connection, relationships, helping, healing, guiding, and reciprocating care and love and light with humans on this earth, as we navigate the beauty and gift of life, as well as the ups and downs and messy parts. We are in this together, and I am truly honored to have the opportunity to work with each of my clients and friends.

In addition to loving my healing practice, I also enjoy spending time with my two sons and soaking up the sun at any chance I can get. I love to run, spend time on the water on my paddle board or ride in fluid carves down the mountain on my snowboard. I’m super active and find that striking a balance between yang/fiery movement and yin/cooling movement helps me maintain a healthy mind, body and spirit.

I look forward to working with new and existing clients to build a life of health and wellness in mind, body, and spirit!
